At the recent ProPak Asia exhibition in Bangkok, Goma Process Technologies headquartered in Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai, highlighted its strategic focus on advanced food processing solutions. Vice president Srinivas Sondur, presenting the company’s capabilities, emphasized its four decades of expertise as a supplier to 50 countries.
“We are the indigenous manufacturers of UHT sterilizers in India, and we’ve been successfully doing this for eight years now,” Sondur stated. The company’s stand highlighted sophisticated processing lines for sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and emerging vegan products, demonstrating its technological versatility.
“This exhibition is crucial for us,” Sondur explained. “Bangkok serves as a shopping hub, providing an incredible platform to connect with Southeast Asian countries. We’re seeing tremendous interest from Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh, and Nepal.”
Industry trends are rapidly evolving, and according to Sondur, Goma is at the forefront of this transformation. “The processing lines are getting bigger,” Sondur noted. “We’re now talking about 20,000 to 30,000 liters per hour processing capabilities. This is becoming the new standard across the industry.”
Srinivas explained that the juice processing sector, in particular, shows promising growth potential. He noted rapid expansion in India and increasing global demand for sophisticated processing infrastructure.
Automation and SCADA are levelers for newer entrants
With four factories in India, Sondur emphasized, “We’re not just selling machines, we provide complete turnkey solutions. Our focus for the next two to three years is on automated and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-based projects.”
Automation has become a transformative force for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), Sondur pointed out. “Five to six years ago, investments were directed more toward supporting SMEs in conventional ways. Today, those same businesses are turning to automation to level the playing field with large players like Amul, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola.” Automation, he added, brings efficiency, consistency, and quality — critical factors in global competitiveness.
To support this shift, Goma has developed an in-house automation division. This set of resources manufactures control panels and integrates automation technologies across its processing equipment portfolio. “Having our automation division gives us control and agility in implementing advanced systems into our solutions,” said Sondur.
In the interaction, he stated that the exhibition for Goma served as a platform for expansion and exposure. “Our primary goal is exposure. We want to establish agents across Southeast Asian countries and expand our business footprint.”
“ProPak Asia is more than an exhibition for us,” Sondur concluded. “It’s an opportunity to showcase our capabilities, understand market dynamics, and build meaningful business relationships.”
