Heat and Control presented its food processing and packaging technologies at Anuga FoodTec 2025 in Mumbai, with the Symphony Seasoning System drawing particular attention.

“The Symphony Seasoning System is like a symphony in itself,” said Venkatesh Parthasarthy, national sales manager for Heat and Control. “It tackles two major issues for customers: precise weight-on-weight seasoning and collecting seasoning dust that usually spreads in packaging areas. That dust is then reapplied back on the product, ensuring nothing goes to waste.” He said the machine enables multiple flavors to be processed simultaneously, avoiding the need for frequent line changes.

Alongside Heat and Control’s solutions, group company Ishida showcased a new high-speed multihead weigher with a two-litre hopper size. It also presented the Astro high-speed packing machine, which was formerly produced in Japan but is now manufactured in Pune under the government’s ‘Make in India’ program.

Heat and Control currently operates a major facility in Chennai with about 700 employees and has begun constructing a second plant in the city. “We are servicing the global market from here, and almost 70% of production is exported,” Parthasarthy said. “The new facility in Chennai will be ready in a year, reflecting the growth we are seeing.” Ishida, meanwhile, produces its weighing and packing machines in Pune.

Parthasarthy highlighted that demand is being reshaped by the rise of regional Indian snacks such as murukku, tatte, kodbole and nippattu, which were earlier limited to cottage industries. “Now, with modern processing and packaging, consumers across India are getting access to hygienically made regional products. It’s helping the market grow and creating new opportunities,” he noted.

Looking ahead, Parthasarthy expressed optimism about the domestic sector. “I have been in this company for 23 years, and it has never been a low time. The Indian food processing and packaging market is only moving upwards.”

While the first day of Anuga FoodTec 2025 was slowed by rain, visitor traffic improved over subsequent days. “The second and third days were reasonably good,” Parthasarthy said, adding that the show provided valuable exposure for Heat and Control’s innovations and reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian market.
