Bossar Packaging, a Spanish multinational company, founded in Barcelona in 1992, is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of horizontal form fill and seal (HFFS) packaging machines. Moreover, the company is also well known and globally recognized brand for its contribution to the development of the packaging market in general, and the HFFS machines in particular. To cater to the needs of the Asian market, the company established its first manufacturing plant in India at Pune. Commenced in January 2018, Bossar Packaging India, under its technology transfer program and Make in India initiative, promises to offer European technology to pharmaceutical, food, and beverage companies at Indian prices.

Unique solution for packing pastes, purees, and juices

Explaining the company’s solutions for the food and beverage industry, Vijay Prabhu Desai, director of Bossar Packaging India, says, “Bossar Packaging offers a unique solution for packing hot-fill juices and drinkable yogurt through spouts. Bossar’s state of the art BMK 2600 and Rivale machines are the most suitable solutions for packing pastes, purees, and juices. The Rivale machine has a complete servo-based pouch maker connected to a rotary filling machine. Unlike pre-made pouches on the rail, the Rivale machine automatically inserts pouches inside rails and then feeds them to the rotary filling machine.” Filling through the spout gives the advantage of filling the product to the brim, which saves packaging costs.

Technological innovations at Bossar

According to Desai, the company invests in R&D to meet industry as well as customer’s requirements. “Bossar Packaging offers the largest HFFS machinery range in the market. We work closely with our customers to understand their requirements and to design and develop new packaging machines based on their needs,” he adds.

The latest technological innovations at Bossar Packaging include modular machines, the carousel system for pouch transport and aseptic applications for flexible packaging, and a new series of full servo-controlled HFFS machines (BMS series). The eco-friendly BMS series with sanitary construction offers many advantages compared to the traditional mechanical machines. New developments include the Rivale concept combining a pouch-making machine with a filling machine. This concept enables high-quality pouch sealing and allows high-speed production, as well as form filling and sealing machines for bigger pouches.

Desai speaks about quality and hygiene standards, “Our specially designed machines are manufactured as per the FDA guidelines. The BMK 2600 machine is constructed in stainless steel to meet international sanitary standards.”

Efficient, reliable and advanced solutions

Bossar Packaging is a part of the Scholle IPN group, that offers complete integrated packaging solutions such as packaging material, spouts or valves, and packing machines. According to Desai, the Bossar’s USP is that “Our machines are reliable, efficient and can be easily maintained. All these factors improve overall productivity and make Bossar the first choice among manufacturers. Moreover, all of our machines are equipped with the latest technology, offering perfect seal, flexible sanitary construction, and user-friendliness with more flexibility.”

Bossar is committed to maintaining profitability without sacrificing quality, service, and reliability. Desai says that the Indian food industry is struggling to reach the level of European or American hygiene and food regulation standards and still lags far behind.

Bossar Packaging India is associated with brands such as Schrieber Dynamix for dairy packing, Paper Boat for Hector Beverages, and Future Group for packing almonds, pistachio and cashew nuts under their Karmiq brand. He proudly says that Bossar Packaging India has installed more than 300 machines globally for packaging ketchup, mayonnaise, various sauces, fruit purees, vegetable purees, drinkable yogurt, and juices.

Commenting on the company’s vision, Desai said, “Bossar wants to become a number one and preferred supplier and technology leader in packaging and complete packaging line solutions for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical segments.”
