Kerala-based Bhavani Food Products exhibited its Banana Halwa and Jackfruit Papad at the Sial exhibition in Delhi’s Dwarka.

While the Banana Halwa is completely preservative-free and oil-free and is prepared from banana, jaggery, ghee, and cashews, the Jackfruit Papad is prepared from jackfruit and spices, Kishore Pai, proprietor, Bhavani Food Products, told IndiFoodBev.

The startup, which is just 10 months old, sells its preservative-free formulations on Amazon and at a few stores in Delhi NCR as well as the Iskcon temple in Noida. “Since both our products are unique, we are getting good inquiries from buyers from India and overseas. Both the Banana Halwa and Jackfruit Papad are made from traditional Konkani home recipes,” Pai said.

Banana has high levels of potassium, Pai said, adding jaggery, which is a healthier alternative than sugar, gives the sweetness. The Banana Halwa is preservative-free, which makes it a suitable alternative to satiate sugar cravings, he said.

Jackfruit, on the other hand, helps control cholesterol and has a good market even in European countries. “Both our products are targeted at health-conscious people. Sial is our second exhibition with World Food India in Delhi in September being the first one. Through Bhavani Food Products, we are supporting farmers from the Palakkad district in Kerala,” he said.

The aesthetically pleasing packaging of both the products has been designed by Pai’s sister Keerthana, and done in Gujarat.
