Sidel has introduced its latest breakthrough, the EvoBLOW Laser, to be showcased at drinktec 2025, Munich Trade Fair Centre from 15–19 September. The company described the system as a new benchmark for performance in PET and rPET packaging, combining efficiency, quality, sustainability and ease of use.

Pietro Cassani, Sidel president and CEO, said, “Sidel has led the way in blowing technology for over 45 years. At drinktec, we now unveil the world’s first industrialized laser-powered solution, which is a game-changer. Our pioneering commercial PET blower in 1980 revolutionized packaging. Now EvoBLOW Laser will reshape the industry again, setting a new standard for line efficiency and opening new lightweighting possibilities.”

The EvoBLOW Laser replaces traditional halogen heating with laser precision, using up to 36 heating lines instead of eight broad zones. This enables new control of material distribution, resulting in lighter yet stronger bottles. The technology creates invisible “power rings” that enhance strength without visible ribs, expanding design freedom. Lightweighting is also possible in previously restricted areas such as beneath the bottle neck.

Unlike halogen ovens, which require warming or cooling cycles and frequent adjustments, the laser system ensures consistent quality from the very first bottle, regardless of environmental conditions. It offers immediate cold-start capability, live speed modulation, and simplified settings through an intuitive “touch and shape” interface. Maintenance is reduced due to the absence of fans and filters, while laser diodes ensure longevity.

Sustainability gains include reduced preform waste, faster adaptation to rPET, and a smaller oven footprint. The technology supports optimal stretching at higher preform temperatures, making it easier to use recycled materials.

The system has been field-tested with Refresco, the world’s largest independent beverage solution provider. Coert Michielsen, chief supply chain officer at Refresco, said, “After 45 years of halogen technology, we are now entering a new era. I firmly believe that laser oven technology will become the new standard.”
