The Indusfood Manufacturing exhibition co-located with Indusfood Agri-Tech was held at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, Delhi-NCR from 9 to 11 January. IndiFoodBev and Packaging South Asia covered both shows — including Indusfood in Greater Noida — from stand G28, hall 1, at Yashobhoomi – which had exhibitors displaying and demonstrating their food processing and packaging equipment.

Aimed at the growing domestic market, the manufacturing show featured packaging lines mainly for smaller pouches in both vertical and horizontal format, some even retrofitted with weighcheckers. And many paper-based packaging solutions targeted heavily at QSR chains. Inspection rewinders and automated conveyor technologies, which formed a good chunk, were accompanied by spare parts dealers.

Along with OEMs, several converters were present to gain a better perspective of the needs of food brands and to be able to align them with consumer needs. Sustainability was again a buzzword at the show. The converters hinted at increased investments in R&D which could enable them to offer recyclable packaging at better costs. However, paper prices are still a concern.

There were several solution providers for food processing in the bakery, snacks, and FMCG sectors. The bakery segment, in itself, formed the highest number of exhibitors. There were lines for dough kneading, cookie forming with in-built rollers, cutters, and ingredient sprinklers to avoid wastage, and baking machines that could produce as much as 5 kg of cookies in a single shift.

Other than bakery, pasteurization solutions, air frying machines, coffee-making machines for both commercial and home use, providers of chemical solutions, and bottling solutions filled the hall.

The shows at both locations received sound footfall though the division of the shows across the different ends of Delhi-NCR confused the exhibitors and visitors alike. Some exhibitors expressed issues with not being able to meet the targeted ROI
