SLMG Beverages, Coca-Cola’s largest bottling partner in India, has inaugurated its biggest bottling facility in Buxar, Bihar, marking a major step in the region’s industrial growth. The company has invested ₹1,200 crore in the first phase of the project, making it one of the largest beverage manufacturing investments in eastern India, the financial media reported.
Located in Nawanagar and spread across nearly 65 acres, the facility is SLMG Beverages’ first Coca-Cola bottling plant in Bihar and is expected to play a crucial role in supplying beverages across the state and neighboring regions such as eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The plant is equipped with seven high-speed production lines capable of producing more than 5,000 bottles per minute. It will manufacture a wide range of products including carbonated soft drinks, juices, packaged drinking water, and aseptic beverages. The facility also uses advanced PET bottle technology that can extend product shelf life up to eight months, ensuring product quality and distribution efficiency.
By establishing production closer to consumption markets, the company aims to reduce logistics costs, improve supply responsiveness, and ensure fresher product availability, particularly during peak demand periods.
The project is also expected to generate over 450 direct and 850 indirect jobs while creating thousands of indirect employment opportunities across logistics, distribution, and related sectors, the company posted on social media.
SLMG Beverages, part of the Lucknow-based Ladhani Group, is among the top 15 Coca-Cola bottlers globally. The company secured bottling rights for the Bihar market in 2024 after acquiring them from Coca-Cola’s bottling arm, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Limited (HCCBL), as Coca-Cola continues to follow its global asset-light strategy.
Speaking at the inauguration, Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary highlighted the plant as a sign of Bihar’s growing industrial transformation and its potential to boost economic development and employment in the region.
