Baumer, headquartered in Krefeld, Germany, is a global supplier of innovative adhesive application and quality control solutions. A subsidiary of the Baumer Group, Baumer India is responsible for the Indian subcontinent. The primary purpose of setting up an Indian subsidiary is to be closer to the region’s customers and to support its distributors more effectively. Baumer India was established in 2007 and is headquartered in Pune in Western India. The Pune office is well equipped with an up to date training and demo centre for Baumer products.
Manoj Kumar, senior sales manager, Baumer, with his team Gagandeep Singh, sales manager North, Deepak Ranade, sales manager for Gluing Systems and Pramod Bhardwaj, field sales manager, had a talk with Packaging South Asia magazine, at the IndiaCorr Expo 2021 in Greater Noida. “As expected, the Indian market is opening up, and everything is returning to normal. It is our first public appearance since Covid-19, and we’re excited to be a part of the IndiaCorr Expo. The footfalls have surpassed our anticipated expectations.”

Baumer displayed flexo folder-glueing systems and standard folder glueing systems that give the packaging industry several unique options for minimizing glue and energy consumption. The company produces systems for low-pressure cold-glueing, medium pressure cold-glue, hotmelt, central adhesive, and quality assurance for packaging and end-of-line applications.
Baumer commenting on Corrugation Industry
Commenting on the current situation in the corrugation industry, Kumar said, “After the pandemic, the demand for corrugated packaging rose. The consumption of one carton earlier is now increased to 20 cartons today — the corrugation industry making a world record in the production of cartons. Almost everything is now packed in a carton. eCommerce merchants are using these cartons for packaging and shipping, rather than looking at whether the product is small or big. They pack the product into it and send it to the customer.”

While sustainability is a big issue, few want to do more than talk about it. However, Baumer India, sharing its views on sustainability said, “The company is working on and for the environment. We are trying to reduce the use of shrink plastic in the palletization of beverage bottles. Earlier the pallets of bottles were being wrapped in a plastic sheet but now the plastic sheets have been replaced by attaching the bottles with glue at one spot. Additionally, hot and cold melting glue have solutions and eco-friendly chemicals, which we are implementing for the products we are making.”
Further, on the technological advances of their machines, the company’s automatic glueing machines apply the adhesive on the targeted area only. These are handier and low maintenance machines, which require significantly fewer service interventions, say Kumar and his team simply.
