At Ipack-Ima 2025 in Milan, Ahmedabad-based A Innovative International Limited presented its popping machine technology, with a focus on expanding its footprint in Europe. While the company did not conduct a live demonstration, managing director Ankit Hansaliya said that the show provided a strategic opportunity to engage with a more mature market.

Hansaliya said the popping machines, already familiar in Europe, are gaining relevance globally as demand grows for non-fried, healthy snack options. “This market appears better developed for our product,” he said, adding that the company currently has a presence in Italy and Slovakia and is aiming to enter 10-15 countries by 2026.

A Innovative’s popping technology gained traction after multinational interest in the format increased around 2020–21. The company began developing its machines in 2021 and initially collaborated exclusively with ITC for over two years. Since then, it has expanded its client base to include other Indian brands such as Parle and Haldiram’s.

Founded in 2001, A Innovative initially specialized in engineering equipment such as laser cutting and water jet machines. It diversified into food processing equipment in 2020, focusing on popping machines and dryers. According to Hansaliya, the company currently sells more food machinery overseas than in India but anticipates strong domestic growth over the next few years.

Discussing Ipack-Ima’s role, Hansaliya said it was the company’s first participation in the exhibition, although he had visited the expo in 2015. He described the event as a useful platform for connecting with potential buyers across Europe, noting that the inquiries received were fewer in number compared to Asian shows but were more targeted.

Hansaliya observed that European buyers tend to prioritize technical specifications and service reliability over cost. “Many are already operating 50-60 popping machines and usually begin discussions with detailed technical questions,” he said, adding that price is typically discussed only after technical requirements are met.

He said the company plans to continue building on its current portfolio, which includes non-fried snack equipment, and is considering future developments in high-protein and vacuum-processing technologies.

While acknowledging that awareness of popping technology in India is still developing, Hansaliya noted that the company expects domestic demand to rise. “We are already working with major players, and as the product category becomes more familiar, we expect India to become a leading market for us.”
