Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, in collaboration with the Union ministry of agriculture & farmers welfare, organized a two-day FPO Samagam 2025 in New Delhi. The initiative brought together farmer-producer organizations (FPOs) and smallholder farmers from across India to enhance their marketing capabilities, build digital capacity, and unlock new opportunities through e-commerce.
The event was attended by Union minister of agriculture & farmers welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who inaugurated the proceedings and encouraged farmers to evolve from producers to entrepreneurs. He emphasized that FPOs play a key role in building self-reliant villages, strengthening the rural economy through swadeshi initiatives, and advancing women’s empowerment.
Under the theme FPO Samagam, the event featured capacity-building sessions focused on quality enhancement, value addition, and digital market access for FPOs. Flipkart conducted a dedicated training session to help participating farmer organisations understand how to leverage its digital marketplace to reach a wider consumer base. A buyer–seller interaction was also organized, connecting farmer organisations with potential buyers to explore new business opportunities.
Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer, Flipkart Group, said, “India’s agriculture sector is at an important juncture, and the efforts of the government under the Ministry of agriculture & farmers welfare, leading efforts to strengthen farmer-producer organizations and empower rural communities, are commendable. At Flipkart, we are proud to support farmers and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) by enabling access to wider markets through technology, transparent sourcing, and sustainable partnerships. Our goal is to build an inclusive, efficient farm-to-consumer marketplace ecosystem that enhances farmers’ income, rural prosperity and contributes to an Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
The collaboration will help strengthen the rural economy, create employment opportunities in rural areas, and enable farmers to achieve better livelihoods.
