The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever air shipment of Neelam and Totapuri Mangoes from Karnataka to the Maldives, expanding the global footprint of India’s premium late-season mango varieties, it announced on social media.

By connecting farmers directly to international markets, this initiative enabled associated farmers to realise over 50% higher returns, while strengthening Karnataka’s horticulture sector and extending India’s mango export season and creating new income opportunities and rewarding quality produce.

APEDA says it remains committed to connecting India’s farmers with international markets and building a stronger, more competitive agri-export ecosystem.

Earlier in June, APEDA flagged off the first commercial consignment of fresh mangoes from Jharkhand to the United Kingdom. The consignment comprised 1.5 metric tons of fresh Amrapali mangoes sourced from Beura Farmer Producer Company, an all-women farmer producer company (FPC) in Bano Block of Simdega district of Jharkhand.

APEDA has also facilitated the first-ever sea export of 7 metric tons of flavored makhana (Foxnuts) from Darbhanga, Bihar, to Canada, marking a new milestone for India’s value-added agricultural exports.
