Public relations veteran Sowmya Iyer has announced the official launch of House of Lakshyam, a new home-grown spice brand rooted in tradition and family recipes, with its flagship product, Idli Molaga Podi. A company press release says the brand is built on a recipe that has been passed down over three generations — from her grandmother, to her mother, and now to kitchens across the country.

House of Lakshyam began as a three-month pilot project, running from April to July, during which it served 500 customers across India. Encouraged by the response and the demand for authentic, homemade flavors, Iyer has now taken the brand from pilot to a full-fledged launch.

For Iyer, food was never just about nourishment. Growing up, it was intertwined with family, tradition, and love — recipes made and shared the same way for decades. As modern life grew busier, she noticed a growing hunger for those authentic flavors: people craving the taste of home, without the time or knowledge to recreate it themselves. That gap between memory and modern life is what led to the idea of House of Lakshyam.

“Growing up, food was never just about filling our stomachs. It was about family, tradition, love, and recipes that were passed down from one generation to another. As life became busier, I realized that many of us miss those authentic flavors. We crave food that reminds us of home, but finding that genuine homemade taste isn’t always easy. That’s when the idea of House of Lakshyam was born,” said Sowmya Iyer, founder, House of Lakshyam.

The brand’s true inspiration is Iyer’s Paati (grandmother) and mother, both of whom shared a simple, unwavering belief: no one who walked through their door should ever go without a meal. That instinct to feed, welcome, and care for anyone who came home is the spirit Iyer has built House of Lakshyam around. Rather than build another packaged food label, she set out to create a brand that honors heritage, kitchens, and recipes that have stood the test of time.

Every House of Lakshyam product is inspired by traditional preparations, made with quality ingredients, and crafted with the same care that goes into food cooked for one’s own family — starting with the brand’s flagship offering, Idli Molaga Podi, spice blend made using her grandmother’s original recipe.

With Idli Molaga Podi as its first offering, House of Lakshyam is now available for customers looking to bring genuine, homemade taste back into their everyday meals. The brand plans to expand its range with more traditional, recipe-led spice blends in the coming months.
