Caldic, a global distributor and development partner for the life sciences and material sciences sectors, has announced the official opening of its new Food Innovation Hub (iHub) in India, marking a significant milestone in strengthening its Food & Nutrition footprint across the Asia-Pacific region.

Serving as a Center of Excellence for Food & Nutrition, the Food iHub in Mumbai combines deep expertise in food formulation and application with state-of-the-art lab and blending facilities, a press release stated. This uniquely positions Caldic to co-create innovative solutions together with customers for faster scale and commercialization.

“Our Innovation Hub is a key driver of our Food & Nutrition strategy. It will accelerate innovation with our customers and principals to deliver better and more specialized solutions while bringing them to market faster across APAC and globally,” says Knud Mohr, chief executive officer, Caldic APAC. “It is specifically equipped to address evolving market demands in areas such as nutritional fortification, enhancing texture, and improving taste making it a launchpad for growth across key Food & Nutrition segments.”

By combining lab and testing facilities with sourcing, packing and regulatory expertise, the facility is designed to deliver end-to-end solutions that are fully aligned with local regulatory requirements while increasing customers’ supply chain agility.

“This facility reflects our commitment to operational excellence and advanced technology. Combining application laboratories, pilot plants, and blending facilities will allow us to adapt and scale Caldic solutions across the globe and tailor these to suit our local customers while opening new sales channels for our principal partners,” says Steve Crockett, commercial director, Caldic APAC.

Sustainability has been embedded into every stage of the facility’s development. The site incorporates environmental solutions, including solar energy provisions, while its strategic location and multimodal connectivity via rail, port, and air infrastructure support more efficient operations and lower-impact logistics. Located within a major industrial zone, Taloja, it facilitates close collaboration with leading food industry players, reinforcing its role as a strategic hub for innovation and partnership in APAC.

“India is one of Caldic’s most important growth markets, with rapidly evolving consumer preferences and increasing demand for differentiated, locally relevant food solutions,” says Smita Shetty, managing director, Caldic India. “At the same time, India is playing an increasingly important role in the global food industry. iHub Food strengthens India’s position as an innovation and production hub for Caldic, enabling us to support customers across APAC and other regions.”

The opening of the India Innovation Hub follows the recent opening of the newly renovated iHub and offices in Bangkok, Thailand, marking another milestone in Caldic’s ambition to deliver custom solutions that go beyond distribution. Together, these investments reinforce Caldic’s ability to support customers and principals with innovation, application expertise, and local execution across the region and beyond. Both facilities form an integral part of Caldic’s global Food iHub network spanning across Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and Latin America.
