At the Anuga FoodTec event in Mumbai in August, Cilicant showcased its range of active packaging solutions tailored for packaged food and agro-produce industries, reinforcing its commitment to active packaging solutions.

Rakesh Jain, GM of business development at Cilicant, said, “What’s made us different from the rest of the manufacturers is that we are 100% compliant with US FDA regulations. In India, we were at the forefront in bringing this level of quality awareness and documentation standards into the market. We were the first to do so.”

Jain elaborated on Cilicant’s customer-centric approach, “Our emphasis is on delivering the right solution at the right time, along with constant trials on the client’s side. We move ahead to the commercial stage only after assuring stability and client satisfaction through trials. This is what makes us different.”

Expanding horizons across industries

Cilicant produces active packaging solutions such as oxygen scavengers, desiccants, and a variety of problem-specific solutions primarily catering to pharmaceuticals, and food packaging industries. It has now expanded its outreach to other growing industries.

Jain says on the far-reaching vision of the company, “Our active packaging solution should be in every home and that is our aim. It may appear a very far-fetched idea. However, it is not. Shelf-life issues affect the lives of everybody, and our active packaging products address these concerns. Whether it is a life-saving medicine or the packaging of food products, solutions from Cilicant must be everywhere—because, in one way or another, they are.”

Why Anuga FoodTec event?

Cilicant continues to be front and center in the push towards innovative active packaging solutions to extend the shelf life of packaged foods. “Shelf life is greater than just the life of an expired product,” Siddharth Gautam said. “It prevents rancidity, maintains the taste and texture, keeps the aroma, and stops mold and fungus growth.”

Presently, Cilicant serves many fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) categories, including pet food, healthy snacks, breakfast cereals, condiments and spices, dried fruits, and sweets. “We have been a part of Anuga since 2017 and every year, this platform helps us deliver exact active packaging solutions, automate production, and smoothen export mechanisms,” Siddharth Gautam added.

Sakamoto Lime Desiccant: product launch

During the event, Cilicant unveiled its latest innovation, the Sakamoto Lime Desiccant. It absorbs higher levels of moisture at a regulated relative humidity level and is specific to the namkeen and cookies category. “Sakamoto Lime, a specialized active packaging solution, addresses unique challenges in the namkeen and cookies categories,” explained Jain.

Cilicant has dominated the face of active packaging as innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction seem to be its continuous commitment to make sure that the products of various industries will be safe, reliable, and long-lasting, Jain concluded.
