Multivac at Fachpack Nuremberg

Whether ready meals or deli products, Multivac – a solutions provider for the packaging and processing of food, medical and pharmaceutical products – is exhibiting at this year’s Fachpack in Nuremberg, Germany (23-25 September) as a leading automation and system solution partner for the food industry. Among the exhibits is a fully automated traysealer line for the sustainable packaging of ready meals as well as a complete solution for packing convenience foods and deli products, the company said in a press release.

Central to the future of the food industry is how it handles the growing shortage of personnel, and how it deals with the increasing demand for ever greater flexibility in production. “Up to now many tasks on our customers’ lines have traditionally been associated with a high level of manual input. Our objective is therefore to automate as many of these processes as possible, involving integrated and fully automated lines, as well of course as using Artificial Intelligence,” explains Dietmar Bohlen, vice president of Multivac Deutschland. “In order to meet the rising demand for smaller batch sizes and greater product diversity, we are able to offer machines, which can be converted very easily and quickly – even by personnel without any special technical knowledge.“

At the trade fair, Multivac will demonstrate its expertise in complete lines and automation, exhibiting a traysealer line for packing ready meals, which includes not only the compact and high-performance TX 620 traysealer, but also a conveyor belt labeler with an AI-based inspection system for product inspection at the infeed and label and print inspection at the outfeed.

Developed with rapid product change and high cycle output for a wide range of applications, the TX 620 is distinguished by its intelligent machine and line control, as well as the highest standards of hygiene. The filled trays are stacked automatically in containers by a Cobot (Multivac Combined Automations). The line will be packing ready meals under modified atmosphere in a sustainable cardboard tray, which is sealed very reliably with a thin recyclable film.

The wide range of system solutions will also be shown, featuring a compact thermoforming packaging machine for packing convenience foods and deli products in various films. Multivac supports its customers in many different sectors with tailored packaging concepts from one source, and these include not only packaging machines in all output categories, but also a wide range of suitable consumable materials.

The precise matching of machines and films makes it possible to achieve very efficient operation and a high level of process reliability, as well as reducing maintenance work. Increasingly the focus is on the saving of natural resources as well as on recyclable or renewable materials, so that the requirements of the EU Packaging Directive (PPWR – Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations) can be met.
