At ProPak 2024 in Bengaluru, Serac, a global leader in packaging technology, showcased its advanced packaging solutions, including filler cappers, cup fillers, aseptic fillers, and the innovative BluStream decontamination model.
According to Deepak Kamat, managing director of Serac India who was present at the stand, “Serac’s USP is accuracy, flexibility, and modularity.” The French multinational company has its office in Pune. With a team of 16 employees, it has installed 125 machines across India.

Kamat elaborated on Serac’s BluStream decontamination model, highlighting its significant advancements in aseptic decontamination. Aimed primarily at the food industry, where extended shelf life is critical, the BluStream technology represents a breakthrough by using electron beam (EB) technology instead of traditional chemical methods such as hydrogen peroxide or peracetic acid. This approach eliminates the need for chemicals, significantly reducing both capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) costs.
“In this technology, we use eBeam for decontamination instead of any chemical, wherein we can save a lot on ROI when it comes to operational cost,” Kamat said.
The eBeam decontamination technology meets the increasing health and safety requirements of consumers and operators while reducing the environmental impact and space requirements for packaging production lines.
According to Delphine Gueguen, head of the aseptic equipment division of Serac, “ Safer and better for the environment, eBeam decontamination technology has a promising future ahead in the aseptic packaging sector.”
The global food industry has experienced exponential growth, especially during the pandemic. According to Kamat, the pandemic has increased consumer awareness of hygiene. “Post-Covid, people are more conscious about hygiene. We foresee that every company will require one or two dedicated lines for hygienic products,” he said.
This shift in consumer behavior presents significant opportunities for Serac. By leveraging its advanced packaging lines, the company aims to meet the rising demand for hygienic packaging solutions.
