India stands second in global agricultural production US $415 billion plus, but ranks 8th in exports of US $ 39 billion. Towards realizing the vision of doubling Indian agri exports to US $ 60 billion by 2022 and US $ 100 billion by 2025, Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) announced the launch of India Agri Export Council (IAEC).
According to the official statement, IAEC aims to promote production and trade stewardship and stimulate sustainable collaborations across agri supply chain and value chain towards accelerating exports growth. The Council is established as an open knowledge sharing and agro trade facilitation platform to promote exports and address the issues faced by the exporters, it said.
“IAEC shall achieve it’s objectives with the support of its partners, corporate members and other key stakeholders. It will bring national and international expertise on one platform to facilitate greater access to global market opportunities, thus pushing India to become a major agri exporter in the years to come,” the statement reads.
