Ahmedabad-based Trebia, a manufacturer of sauces and condiments, showcased its pasta and pizza sauces, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, mustard sauce, and nut pastes at the Indusfood Manufacturing show in Delhi in January 2025.
Started in 2018, the food startup’s director Rajan Vakharia was previously in the dyes and chemicals business. Vakharia started Trebia as a means to engage his two sons in the food business as he already had some good inquiries from overseas customers, who were earlier importing sauces and condiments from European countries and wanted to switch over to India.
With all the manufacturing equipment at its Dholka plant, located on Ahmedabad’s outskirts, imported from Germany, Trebia makes sauces and condiments for the export market. Vakharia said Trebia’s newly launched nut pastes – Cashew Butter, Pistachio Butter, Almond Butter and Peanut Butter — are 100% natural and preservative-free and are aimed at the domestic ice cream, bakery and sweets market.
Though the company has received some good export inquiries for its nut pastes, it currently supplies them to major Indian ice cream manufacturers, Vakharia said.
With a range of 18 products, Trebia is in the process of formulating fruit jams, fruit preserves and fruit fillings for the domestic and export markets. These products will have high fruit content and are aimed at preserving the natural taste of fruits without colors or preservatives, Vakharia said. The company is also developing of chili paste and Tahini sauce, which will be introduced in the next 3-6 months.
