Founder Ajay Gupta to act as non-executive chairman

Capital Foods recently announced the appointment of Navin Tewari as managing director and chief executive officer, starting 1 January 2021. Tewari succeeded Ajay Gupta, founder of Capital Foods. Gupta will now act as the non-executive chairman.

Tewari initially joined the firm in 2019 as its chief executive officer. The company has exhibited remarkable growth under his leadershipwith more than 50 percent expansion and a pan-India coverage. Tewari has worked wonders with market expansion in Karnataka, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The Invus Group and General Atlantic, both private equity firms, havde investments in Capital Foods.

Capital Foods is the owner of brands like Ching’s Secret and Smith & Jones. While Ching’s Secret offers a range of soups, noodles, and sauces, Smith & Jones provides arange of Indian and international cuisine Cooking pastes, sauces, and masalas. Capital Foods also owns an ethnic brand Raji which offers spices and masalas for regional Indian cooking.

The enterprise has not only captured the domestic market but also has a strong presence in the international export market.
