
Fast-food brand Taco Bell is experimenting with a plant-based protein in its new offering, the crispy melt taco, for its customers in Birmingham. It is made fresh with white corn shell tortilla filled with layers of mozzarella cheese, Monterey pepper jack cheese, and melted shredded cheddar cheese, nacho cheese sauce and topped with a plant-based protein, which is a mix of pea and soy.
The toppings of the taco contain crispy lettuce, juicy cut tomatoes, more cheddar cheese, and limited-fat sour cream. vegetarians can get the melted taco with crispy lettuce, juicy tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and low-fat sour cream. Non-vegetarians can choose a taco filled with real seasoned beef.
The Crispy Melt taco is available for $2.49, irrespective of the fillings. The patented plant-based protein will feature in Nachos BellGrande and can be customized into any menu item. The American Vegetarian Association certified the protein as Vegan.
The plant-based protein offering is the latest innovation in Taco Bells’ long vegetarian journey. A few other vegetarian tests are the Naked Chalupa with a plant-based crispy shell and the Cravetarian plant-based protein. taco Bells Beyond meat product partnership will be ready before 2022 ends. Taco Bell says vegan means containing no animal ingredients.
However, in a few eateries, the same frying pan is used for the preparation of the food menu, and they may contain animal ingredients. These are common instances when vegan and animal ingredients are cooked together.
American Vegetarian Association has approved the vegan ingredients from Taco Bell.taco bell, its franchisees, and its employees are not responsible for such a cross-contact between vegan and animal ingredients, it says.
