The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), in collaboration with the UT Administration of Ladakh and Fair Exports India, flagged off the maiden export of fresh Halman Apricot from Ladakh to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar on 7 August 2025.

Sourced from the high-altitude belts of Kargil, the Halman apricot well-known for its distinct sweetness, rich flavor and long shelf life marks its global debut under the ‘One District One Product’ and ‘Vocal for Local, Global Outreach’ initiatives, APEDA announced on social media posts.

“The consignment of 1.5 MT procured from local farmers was packed and assessed to meet international quality standards. This milestone highlights India’s continued efforts to promote and strengthen region-specific exports and support stakeholders with market access and logistical enablement,” APEDA said.

Lulu Group India’s vast retail network in the Gulf will ensure premium shelf presence for Ladakh’s apricots, opening new market linkages for Himalayan-origin fruits.
