Domino India is seeing growing demand for coding and marking solutions as food manufacturers increasingly adopt automated technologies to improve product traceability, meet regulatory requirements and strengthen branding, according to Dayal Saran Guntur, deputy general manager, sales, at Domino India.

Speaking at Anuga FoodTec 2026 in Mumbai, Guntur said the company was showcasing its range of coding and marking technologies, including continuous inkjet (CIJ) printers, thermal inkjet (TIJ) systems, high-resolution inkjet printers and laser coders.

The portfolio includes Domino’s Ax-Series CIJ printers, Gx-Series TIJ printers and Cx-Series high-resolution inkjet printers for applications such as printing batch numbers, expiry dates and other product information on packaging. These systems also support barcode and QR code printing to improve product identification and traceability.

Domino was also demonstrating its laser coding technologies for primary and secondary packaging applications. Its Dx-Series CO₂ laser coders are used on a range of packaging materials, while F-Series fiber lasers are suited to applications involving metals and coated surfaces. The company’s U510 UV laser coder offers another option for manufacturers seeking high-contrast codes on packaging.

Guntur said UV laser technology could be an alternative to conventional thermal transfer overprinting (TTO) systems, particularly for high-volume production lines. “The UV laser does not require consumables and provides good contrast,” he said, adding that the technology could be used without changing existing packaging artwork or laminates.

Demand for coding and marking equipment in India is increasing as manufacturers move away from manual stamping and labeling towards automated systems. Guntur said greater awareness of product identification, regulatory compliance and traceability was encouraging adoption.

Automated coding can reduce errors associated with manual operations and help manufacturers print machine-readable codes, enabling more effective tracking of products through the supply chain.

Food and dairy account for around 40% of Domino India’s business, making the segment a key market for the company. Guntur said the growing volume of packaged food, the entry of new brands and the expanding variety of products were creating additional demand for coding and marking equipment.

“More packaged food products and new varieties are coming into the market,” he said, pointing to the opportunities this created for coding and marking technology providers.
