SourceTrace, a global Agritech company in collaboration with Thinkag will be hosting India’s first conference on traceability in agriculture. The event, which will be held at The Le Meridien Hotel, New Delhi on 5 March 2020. According to the organizers, the event will feature over 60 industry leaders from the food and agriculture sector across the country.

Agriculture is gaining prominence and technology solutions become critical to achieve better profitability and productivity. In an increased globalized market, food safety and sustainability have become dominant concerns too. India needs to use technologies such as traceability to maintain international competitiveness, ensure safety and security of its produce and build a niche for produce originating from India. In an era when there is trust deficit in international trade, technologies, such as traceability can bridge that gap.

TraceCon will be the first step towards discussing traceability, its impact in boosting trade and sustainability as well as on food safety and security. The event will also showcase success stories and discuss trends and challenges in adoption.  The event will host several sessions where relevant stakeholders from food and retail businesses, government bodies, technology companies and export-oriented businesses and more will come together to exchange their ideas and explore new opportunities in traceability.

Venkat Maroju, chief executive officer, SourceTrace said, “From food safety to farmer income to promotion of exports, traceability can play a significant role across the agricultural and food spectrum in India. Budget 2020 also focused on using technology to develop agriculture, and the commitment to double farmer income by 2022 can only be achieved through the use of technology.  SourceTrace in collaboration with Thinkag has taken this initiative to discuss the importance and need of traceability solutions in the agriculture and food supply chain. We look forward to its wider adoption by the industry in the near future.”

“Traceability is an important element in any distributed supply chain. Globally, the consumer is demanding information about what is on their plates. So, for Indian agriculture to be competitive and meet these needs, innovations in food safety and traceability must be adopted. For ThinkAg which supports the growth of innovations across Agritech and food in India, this is a key area and we are excited to be running this event in partnership with SourceTrace”, said Ritu Verma, co-founder Thinkag and co-founder and managing partner, Ankur Capital Fund.

The conference intends to bring out a white paper on the role of traceability solution in food safety, agriculture value chain and how it helps in boosting exports and improving farmers livelihood.
