US Pizza chain Papa John’s is re-entering India in October 2025 with plans to open 650 stores over the next decade, starting with a flagship location in Bengaluru.

The U.S.-based pizza company, which exited India in 2017, is returning through a joint master franchise agreement with Pulsar Capital and UAE-based PJP Investments Group. The company aims to tailor its menu to local tastes while competing in the crowded Indian fast-food market.

Despite a crowded market with strong competitors like Domino’s and Pizza Hut, Pulsar Capital sees long-term growth potential and believes the fast-food category in India is still under-penetrated. Papa John’s plans to offer both its signature pizzas and menu items adapted to local tastes.

“India is a complex market with unique consumer preferences. We are taking the necessary time to ensure our franchise partner opens with the right products and menu, technology, and restaurant footprint to ensure their long-term success,” the company said.

Papa John’s re-entry follows that of another US rival, Little Caesars, which also entered India earlier in 2025 with its own ambitious expansion plans.
