MuscleTech's consumer protection campaign to tackle counterfeits

Aiming to safeguard consumer trust and product authenticity, MuscleTech, a sports nutrition brand, recently launched a comprehensive Consumer Protection Campaign aimed at informing their buyers to recognize genuine MuscleTech products as the onslaught of counterfeits in the market prevails.

The campaign presents the brand’s commitment to transparency and consumer well-being given the rise in reports on counterfeit health supplements being sold under the sports nutrition brands, which could lead to adverse side-effects.

As part of the campaign, MuscleTech has unveiled a series of bite-sized awareness videos that inform the consumers through an effective five-step guide to verify the authenticity of their purchased MuscleTech products. The first step involves inspecting the GMC hologram on the product packaging. This is followed by peeling off the hologram to check for the word ‘VOID’ appearing underneath.

The third step urges consumers to check the batch numbers and manufacturing dates of their purchased products with MuscleTech’s customer care team to authenticate them. As part of the fourth step, MuscleTech informs the consumers to scan and upload the QR code on the product using the official MuscleTech app for instant verification.

Lastly, consumers are advised to carefully check the product’s label to ensure it includes both the MRP and the mandatory FSSAI number, present across original MuscleTech products.

Moreover, MuscleTech has also released two dedicated videos that are directed to separately guide consumers and retailers while making the original MuscleTech products purchase.

In the consumer awareness video, the brand showcases the widespread issue of counterfeit products infiltrating the market under the MuscleTech branding and hence advises end consumers to make their purchases only through the official website, www.muscletech.in, or via verified e-tailers and legitimate retailers listed on the website. Additionally, the brand encourages buyers to follow the 5-step verification process before consumption.

On the retail front, MuscleTech is urging all its partners and sellers to procure inventory only through its licensed Indian distributor, Shri Balaji Overseas. This ensures every product entering the supply chain is authentic and traceable, further seizing the chances of consumers consuming counterfeit products.

Avik Sanyal, regional director, India and SE Asia, said, “The health and safety of our consumers are paramount. Counterfeit supplements are a concerning threat given their attack on consumer well-being and MuscleTech’s reputation built over the years. Through this campaign, we aim to empower our community with the right tools and knowledge to report fake products and guarantee their well-being by purchasing MuscleTech products from authentic sources and official channels. We are dedicated to eradicating counterfeit products from the root while preserving the integrity of MuscleTech.”
