LT Foods announces new rice facility in Karnataka

LT Foods, a leading player in the packaged foods and rice industry, has a new rice manufacturing facility in Raichur, Karnataka. The move marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to expand its presence in the South Indian regional rice market, a press release stated.

The upcoming unit is designed with an initial estimated annual production capacity of 30,000 metric tons. The project involves a capital expenditure of ₹6 crore (₹60 million), fully financed through the company’s internal accruals.

The Raichur facility will process and package popular non-Basmati rice varieties, including Sona Masoori, Kolam, and Lachkari—staples in South Indian households and increasingly popular among global consumers. Commercial production is slated to begin around 2 February 2026, subject to regulatory and statutory approvals.

LT Foods’ expansion is aimed at leveraging the growing formalization of the regional rice market in South India. By setting up operations in Raichur—recognized as a major production hub for premium non-Basmati rice—the company expects to strengthen its value chain from sourcing to distribution, ensuring quality consistency and supply efficiency.

Ritesh Arora, CEO – India Business & Far East, LT Foods, said “The move is a strategic step in strengthening our regional rice business in India. Regional varieties such as Sona Masoori and Kolam have deep-rooted consumer relevance and consistent demand, and this investment allows us to further strengthen the value chain—from sourcing to processing and delivering a consistent experience to our consumers.”

The facility’s output will primarily cater to Karnataka but is also expected to reach consumers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and international markets where South Indian rice varieties are in high demand.

With this strategic investment, LT Foods underscores its commitment to deepening regional engagement while enhancing its role in India’s rapidly evolving packaged foods sector.
