The Bühler Group has acquired Endeco GmbH and its subsidiary Endeco Protein and Food, building on a partnership that has been in place for several years. The acquisition strengthened Bühler’s protein business and took effect on 1 January 2026.
Swiss technology group Bühler and German plant engineering company Endeco have been working closely together since 2022, with a shared focus on plant-based proteins. This collaboration includes the development and execution of customer projects, as well as the operation of the Protein Application Center at Bühler’s headquarters in Uzwil.
Over the past years, the partnership has brought together what each company does best and delivered real results for customers. Endeco contributes deep plant engineering expertise and process knowledge in starch, protein, and food applications. Bühler provides scale, market reach, and a broad technology portfolio. Together, the two companies cover the whole value chain, closing capability gaps, accelerating innovation, and delivering more advanced solutions for customers in plant-based proteins.
“Endeco brings a strong combination of agility, process expertise, and a highly solution-oriented mindset that complements Bühler’s existing capabilities. We see significant potential to create additional value together, not only in proteins, but across other areas of our business,” says Mike Häfeli, CEO Business Grains & Food at Bühler Group.
“We have been working with Bühler for years, so this is a logical next step. We share the same ambition of getting plant-based protein out of the pilot plant and into industrial-scale production. What changes is that we can now do more of that, faster, and for more customers. Our team and our way of working stay exactly as they are,” says Karl-Heinz Bergmann, managing director of Endeco.
Endeco joins the Bühler Group as endeco, a Bühler company. For existing customers in the starch and dairy industries in Germany, day-to-day contact and service continue as before, with the same teams and relationships in place. Over time, Endeco and Bühler will work more closely together, jointly developing and delivering projects where their combined capabilities make a difference for customers. The Protein Application Center will be integrated into Bühler’s Special Grains and Pulses business unit.
