The FPA Achievements Awards have successfully transformed the packaging industry since 1956. This year with 325 entries recorded with 100 package samples, only twenty-seven packages were honored. And Amcor was one of those to be honored with three FPA Awards – one Gold and two Silver.

Amcor, a leading name in global consumer packaging, is proud to receive three Flexible Packaging Achievements Awards 2022. These awards have recognized the company as one of the best in terms of solving complex customer challenges, modernizing sustainability, and, most importantly, elevating the overall contribution of flexible packaging. The FPA Flexible Packaging Achievements Awards ceremony was held on 23 March in Bonita Springs, Fla, and Brain Carvill, vice president of Amcor Flexibles North America R&D, was honored with the award on behalf of his company.

Amcor has received the gold award for the extended usage of flexible packaging with AmPrima recycle ready pouch for Tyson instant pot family meal kit, a silver award for technical innovation with the clear anti-grease jerky pouch, and a silver award for sustainability with AmPrima recycle PE shrink film with 30% post-consumer recycled content.

Brain Carvill said, “We express the pride of getting honored one more time for innovative achievements by FPA. This clearly demonstrates how we continuously use deep science capabilities to generate groundbreaking opportunities for brands and better options for our consumers.”

Amcor’s AmPrima recycle ready pouch is environment-friendly

AmPrima recycle ready pouch for Tyson instant pot family meal kit is a great replacement for a three-party tray, lidding, and overwrap system with a single and convenient high-barrier carrier which becomes eligible for consumer recycling. The new pouch best fits the consumers’ rising need for recyclable packaging. It incorporates several sustainable materials in brand packaging, including a 75% reduction in packaging weight, an 80% reduction in overall carbon footprint, 84% less water, and no chloride-based PVC material.

Clear anti-grease jerky pouch was awarded a silver award for technical innovation. This pouch is made of unique, high-barrier pouch material that is pivotal in restricting grease build-up and scratches on clear-meat snack packaging. The barrier film’s sealant layer consists of proprietary anti-grease agents that repel fat and resist abrasion. This provides a clear view of the product.

AmPrima recycle PE shrink film with 30% post-consumer recycled content is the best alternative to corrugate and traditional shrink wrap. Apart from upstream product waste, it also minimizes greenhouse gas emissions by up to 10% and consumes 24% less energy.
