Indian agriculture’s positioning on the world stage is undergoing a big shift, moving from bulk commodity supply toward establishing globally recognized food brands. Shiv Shakti Inter Globe Exports (SSIEL) is one such enterprise that has evolved from a single local rice mill in Haryana into an international exporter serving over 70 countries.
In a discussion on the company’s trajectory, Aman Gupta, managing director of SSIEL, told IndiFoodBev how an emphasis on end-to-end integration, advanced packaging, and cross-sector diversification is driving the company’s global expansion.
The turning point in SSIEL’s growth came from a foundational business decision — choosing complete value chain integration over simple mill expansion. Rather than operating as a conventional processing facility, the company established total oversight across every phase of production, including paddy procurement, scientific aging, advanced milling, precision packaging, and global distribution.
According to Gupta, securing international consumer trust requires strict management of the entire journey. This operational integration has enabled SSIEL to position itself not merely as a high-volume exporter but as a brand that sets international benchmarks for quality, innovation, and sustainability.
Despite changing global market conditions, international demand for Indian Basmati rice is steady. Gupta attributes this resilience to the unique aroma, grain uniformity, and culinary heritage of Basmati, which cannot be replicated elsewhere. As global consumers grow increasingly conscious of food quality and authenticity, appetite for premium packaged staples continues to expand.
To capitalize on this trend, SSIEL avoids a uniform sales template, choosing instead to tailor its approach to individual regional markets. While maintaining deep distribution networks in established regions such as the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Asia, the company is actively expanding into emerging economies where packaged food consumption is rising rapidly.
Central to SSIEL’s quality assurance framework is its 100-acre integrated processing facility. By housing procurement, processing, optical sorting, custom packaging, and warehousing under a single ecosystem, the company maintains continuous oversight of its operations.
The company’s facility combines digital traceability systems and automated machinery with human expertise. Gupta says, “Veteran quality heads oversee every production run, testing each batch for purity, grain uniformity, aroma, and cooking performance to meet international food safety requirements. This dual reliance on technology and experienced supervision allows SSIEL to supply custom specifications for more than 200 major global brands.”
Global supply chain disruptions and maritime bottlenecks have challenged international trade in recent years. To safeguard its supply chain, SSIEL leverages its integrated structure to maintain visibility across all stages of procurement and dispatch.
“We maintain strategic inventory buffers, work with multiple shipping partners, and collaborate directly with international clients to forecast demand months in advance. Supported by digital monitoring and dedicated warehousing infrastructure, this operational model allows SSIEL to respond to trade shifts and logistics obstacles without disrupting delivery timelines or product integrity,” he said.
Looking at the next decade, SSIEL is executing a long-term growth plan focused on brand expansion and sector diversification. In its primary agribusiness, the company is developing its flagship brand, Leysha, expanding it from a premium Basmati line into a broader consumer brand offering value-added rice products and staple foods.
The group is entering new segments, including luxury hospitality through the launch of The Aarlis Hotel, Panchkula—the first property under IHG’s Vignette Collection in South-West Asia. The enterprise is also evaluating strategic entries into specialty chemicals and healthcare, reflecting a commitment to building a multi-sector corporate group rooted in quality and long-term value creation.
