Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, showcased its portfolio of innovative sustainable packaging solutions at Scanpack 2024 for a wide range of end markets.
The packaging leader showcased a selection of fit-for-purpose innovative solutions from its extensive packaging portfolio made from paper, plastic, and a combination of both materials, all of which have been developed in close collaboration with customers.
The innovations include
One of the world’s first printed mono-material vacuum packaging for ground coffee, that is designed for recycling. Created in partnership with Finnish coffee producer Paulig, this packaging replaces previously used multi-layer laminates with an aluminum layer, providing the same high barrier properties and product protection, as well as an easy opening feature.

FunctionalBarrier Paper range – fiber-based packaging alternatives that are enhanced with a barrier and recyclable in existing paper waste streams across Europe, as part of Mondi’s re/cycle portfolio. The fiber-based packaging works across many industrial and FMCG end markets and is suitable for eCommerce applications.
re/cycle FlexiBag which has been used by Svenska Hundfoder AB to switch its full pet food portfolio to recyclable packaging. Mondi’s re/cycle FlexiBag is a pre-made mono-material polyethylene (PE) bag designed for recycling, replacing the Swedish manufacturer’s previous multi-layer solution. In addition, Mondi’s re/loop FlexiBag Reinforced will be on display, a cost-effective mono-PE solution with improved mechanical properties and optional post-consumer recycled content.
re/cycle RollPack – Mondi collaborated with Orkla to introduce a mono-material refill packaging solution for marmalade and jam to the Swedish market. Designed for recycling, the mono-polyethylene solution replaces previously used multi-laminate packaging, providing a suitable oxygen barrier and a very good puncture resistance, while being optimized for high-speed packaging machines and easy transportation.
Newly launched Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible, Mondi’s smooth-finished, brown kraft paper grade. The paper packaging offers high-puncture resistance and can be coated for heat-sealing applications, making it ideal for form fill and seal (FFS) processes in industrial and consumer packaging, from construction parts to dry food packaging.
Paulus Goess, growth, and sustainability director flexible packaging, Mondi says, “There are many paths to sustainability, as shown by the diverse examples we brought to Scanpack. By using a material-neutral approach, we tailor solutions to each product’s specific needs while supporting our customers in reaching their sustainability goals. We’re excited to bring this to life at the show as part of our MAP2030 commitments working towards a more circular economy and driving innovation alongside our customers.”
