As consumers worldwide increasingly seek natural sweeteners and clean-label food products, Kolhapur-based Beyond India Exports is positioning jaggery as a modern, versatile ingredient for both domestic and international markets.

Under its consumer brand Jabani, the company has built a diversified portfolio of value-added jaggery products and has steadily expanded its export footprint across key global markets.

Speaking at IndusFood Ahmedabad 2026, Nilesh Shinde of Beyond India Exports said the company’s focus has been on transforming traditional jaggery into innovative products that appeal to evolving consumer preferences.

“Our brand Jabani is centred around jaggery, but we have moved far beyond conventional formats,” Shinde said. “We manufacture flavored jaggery, jaggery syrup, jaggery-based snacks and conventional jaggery products such as powder, cubes and blocks. Each category has multiple SKUs designed to cater to different consumer needs.”

Among the company’s standout offerings is its jaggery syrup, promoted as a natural alternative to refined sugar and, in some applications, even honey.

“Jaggery syrup can be used as a topping on pancakes, waffles, salads or granola, and as a sweetener for beverages after they are prepared,” Shinde explained. “For consumers looking for a vegan-friendly alternative to honey, jaggery syrup offers an excellent option while retaining the natural goodness of jaggery.”

The company manufactures gurchana, a jaggery-based snack, alongside flavoured jaggery products that combine traditional ingredients with contemporary taste profiles. According to Shinde, innovation within the jaggery segment has been central to the company’s growth strategy.

Beyond India Exports has established a strong international presence through exports of jaggery products as well as a wider range of Indian grocery items.

“We export to several countries including the US, Canada, Australia and multiple European markets such as Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK and Denmark,” Shinde said. “Australia is one of our strongest markets, and we also have a growing presence in the Gulf region.”

The company’s facility is located in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, while its corporate office operates from Mumbai. The company has been actively participating in international trade fairs to strengthen its export business.

Shinde said Beyond India Exports has exhibited at IndusFood for the past five years and recently participated in Anuga, Germany. It is preparing to showcase its products at SIAL Paris this year.

Looking ahead, the company plans to diversify beyond jaggery by leveraging Kolhapur’s regional food heritage.

“We are developing a new range of flavoured mamra inspired by popular snack flavours,” Shinde said. “The trials are underway, and we expect to launch the products within the next couple of months. Expanding our product portfolio with new SKUs will help us strengthen our presence across distribution channels.”
