In December 2021, World Packaging Organization announced the winners of the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2022. Cardbox Packaging has been recognized with the WorldStar Global Packaging Award in the food category. It is already the second hit of Cardbox Packaging in the competition. The company already impressed the jury with Cuckoo Ice Cream compostable cups in the same category last year.
Being made of pure cardboard with a water-based coating, Karlo Spoon earns a high eco-friendly profile, resulting in a sustainable packaging solution mainly for dairy and convenience food on the go. The spoon is easy to assemble, attach to the product, or even insert into the lid.
Due to the ban on disposable plastic cutlery in the EU from 2021 to 2022, the spoon is an innovative and ecological alternative, even after printing and coating. One of the other advantages of the Karlo Spoon lies in the printing possibilities, which makes an important message to consumers.
Cardbox Packaging’s innovations are environment-friendly
“It is another sustainable innovation of Cardbox Packaging which has been awarded. We are highly motivated that our solutions will be a part of our daily life in the future. We are very proud of our development team,” comments Klaus Hockl, managing director of Cardbox Packaging group. “We all should focus on effective innovations to positively impact the environment,” he adds.
Created initially for the customer Greiner Packaging, the spoon has become an official part of the portfolio in February 2021. Up until now, millions of spoons have been sold.
The WorldStar Competition is one of the major events of the World Packaging Organization (WPO) and is the pre-eminent global award in packaging. Each year, WPO recognizes the best in packaging innovations from across the globe.
The objective of WPO in organizing WorldStar is to increase awareness on the importance of packaging in having a better life and to recognize the innovation and efforts of companies and individuals for creating packaging solutions of the future and in responding to new challenges and global trends such as sustainability, hygiene, and other trends.
